Ah.. Pricing. This can be tricky. Asking how much a website costs is like asking how much a car costs. What kind of website do you need? How much do you need it customized? Is it just a blog or is it a business and you need to be able to process payments?
The best I can do is provide a few examples.
Free*: If all you need is any old blog.. try WordPress.com. You can set up a blog for free and you can choose a free theme. Just start writing. There! You now have a blog.
*Free means you do it yourself! 🙂
($300-$1000) What if you need a blog with a unique look? You want to blog about hiking, maybe with a small interactive map in the corner of your webpages that display the area you are discussing. Maybe affiliate links to Amazon for hiking equipment you are mentioning. That’s a custom post type. I can make your web pages with features that you specifically need. A web page can be more than just text and images.. it can be something interactive that your visitors can use!
($1000 – $????) How about a new website to promote your business? Provide information and embedded video about your products? Maybe a newsletter sign-up and a method to order your products right on your website? Need to process payments but want to make sure your visitors don’t have to leave your website to do that? There are ways to build all that in.
What it usually comes down to is how much money you want to invest in your business/hobby/interest/. I’m pretty good at giving estimates. I usually charge by the hour. Under some circumstances I will charge a fixed rate for a specific project as long a the project is well-defined.
Unfortunately, it’s the nature of doing custom work that I can’t provide a price list.
